I live in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia with my husband, college-age daughters, my mom, and 6 very mischievous kitties.
I have spent DECADES of my life dieting. I’ve tried it all. I’ve done everything from the Scarsdale diet when I was 10 to Deal a Meal in my teens, Slim Fast, Weight Watchers, vigorous exercise, supplements, grapefruit, days of only eating bananas with skim milk. If I heard about it, I tried it. I have been there. I understand.
One of the most successful plans I was on was low carb. I felt great. I lost weight. But I really didn’t understand the notion of sticking to one thing. A diet is supposed to be cheated on, right? So whenever I encountered a holiday, a birthday, a vacation, a weekend, or just a visit to a restaurant, I used that as a reason to go off plan. Sometimes I’d get right back to it. But more often than not, I’d wait til after the weekend, or till a Monday, or the first of the month – or once I waited five years before I finally got back on track. That voice of sabotage and cycles of addiction were definitely a part of my life.
So what finally worked? For me it was clean keto. Keto helped me to see what fueled my hunger and cravings. Keto also helped because I developed this new feeling – energy. I actually wanted to move. And so I added weight lifting to my protocol. In my first two years of keto, I lost almost 200 pounds – but gained so very much. I gained a life I wanted to be an active participant in.
I got my lipedema diagnosis about a year into my keto journey – all sparked by someone on Instagram telling me that my legs looked like their legs and did I have lipedema as well?
And now I love working with people who are trying to find a protocol that works for them. I am a Certified Health Coach and a Certified Life Coach who has been working with people on their health journeys since 2015.
I am a firm believer in loving yourself through every step of the journey. I have found that self care is the bridge between knowing what to do and actually putting it into practice. When you are ready to take control of your health and your life, I can help with: discovering your goals and what is holding you back; getting that inner voice to align with your goals; how to adjust/tweak your eating to fit your goals; your relationship with food (including triggers and emotional eating); working out (or not!); and making a lifestyle that doesn’t feel like work.
I can’t wait to be a part of YOUR journey!
